William G. Lange
William G. Lange, 94, of Wheatfield, N.Y., formerly of Grove City, Pa., dierd Nov. 16, 2019.
He was born Feb. 5, 1925 in Walmore, N.Y., the son of the late William F. and Esther (Walck) Lange.
Bill graduated from Valparaiso Technical Institute in Indiana with a degree in electrical engineering. Bill began work at Colonial Radio in Buffalo, N.Y., followed by employment at Bell Aerospace Textron in Wheatfield for 40 years as an electrical engineer, and he designed the microgravity accelerometer. After retirement at Bell, he became president of Canopus Products in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he worked for five years developing the microgravity accelerometer used on the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station.
Bill was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he held various offices.
Bill married Shirley Walck in 1949, and she preceded him in death in March 1989. They were blessed with four children, Kathleen (Rev. David) Beutel, David (Barbara) Lange, Steven (Sandra) Lange, and Brian (Leslie) Lange. Survivors also include his wife, Nancy I. (Mueller-Baum) Lange; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Alice Lange.
He was also preceeded in death by an infant son, Bradley; a brother, Norbert, and two sisters, Gertrude (Elwood) Krull, and Eleanore (Norman) Moll.
Visitation will take place in St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church of Walmore, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132, on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the church.
