William E. Cannon Obituary
William E. Cannon, 84, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, in UPMC Jameson.
William was born June 22, 1940, in Sharon to Beulah M. (Davis) and Harold T. Cannon.
He was a 1958 graduate of Hickory High School and worked as a dairy and grain farmer on his farm, Easthill Guernsey, his entire life where they operated a milk jugging operation and store and was well known for their chocolate milk and eggnog.
On June 14, 1960, he married his wife, Nancy Jean (McCartney) Cannon, who survives him at home.
Together they were members of Faith Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed singing in the church choir.
William was a foundry member of No-Till Alliance, current member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and past president of Mercer County Farm Bureau.
William was involved in many agricultural associations throughout his life and was also a past deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville.
He was previously a member of London Grange, and served as president for the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeder Association as well as the Northwest Guernsey Breeder Association.
He was a 4-H leader in Mercer County for many years as well as a member of the 4-H youth development committee.
Most of all, he loved his John Deere 730 antique tractor and loved to go to tractor pulls and restore antique tractors.
William is survived by his wife, at home; daughter, Carolyn (Gary) Huff of New Wilmington; son, Donald (Stacey) Cannon of Hermitage; sister, Linda Stewart; brother, Raymond (Sherry) Cannon; grandchildren, Samuel Huff, Joshua Huff and his fiancée Ashley, Thomas (Alexis) Cannon, and Tyler (Makenzie) Cannon; and great-grandchildren, Colt and Rhett Cannon and Izzy McBride.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday (11-21-24) in Faith Presbyterian Church, 2370 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, 16148.
Funeral services: 4 p.m. Thursday in the church, with Rev. Dr. Anthony Kladitis officiating.
Burial: Mt. Washington Cemetery.
