William W. Alabran Sr., Greenville (Salem Township), passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his residence Friday morning, July 30, 2021. He was 77.
He was born in Smicksburg, Pa., Sept. 10, 1943, a son of William and Annabel (Craig) Alabran.
He had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and later Trinity Industries. He then went onto be employed by Pennsylvania Rail Car, Mercer, Joy Mining, Gearhart Construction and Battles Garage. In his earlier years he had worked at Thiel College.
On Sept. 5, 1964, he married the love of his life, the former Sandra Lee Williams, who preceded him in death Nov. 30, 2017.
He was of the Christian faith.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a life member of the NRA.
Until his passing he hauled the local Amish to Weaver's Pallet Shop, Cochranton.
He adored his family and his wife and children were his world, he enjoyed every moment that they could be together. His grandson, Curtis quickly became the apple of his eye. Mr. Alabran enjoyed the companionship and loyalty of his Norwegian Elkhound, Sage.
He is survived by his children, David W. Alabran, Greenville; and Sherry (Todd) McDowell, Fredonia; three sisters, Olive Ritchey, Greenville; Becky Martin, Calif.; and Ellen (Richard) Stewart, Smicksburg; two brothers, Glen (Sandy) Alabran, Smicksburg; and Louis Alabran, Smicksburg; and a grandson, Curtis McDowell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandy; and infant son, William W. Alabran Jr.; three brothers, Clair Alabran, Samuel Alabran and Daniel Alabran.
