Mercer, Pennsylvania - Wayne King, 82, of Mercer, died at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Allegheny General Hospital after an extended illness.

Wayne was born in Mercer on June 25, 1943, to Lester and Lula King.

He graduated in 1961 from Mercer High School, where he played basketball and football.

Wayne enjoyed playing softball and golfing with all his buddies and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He worked at Mercer Tire Co. and retired from Reznor after 42 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, the former Donna Buxton, whom he married on Oct. 2, 1964; a son, Scott King (Sue Ann) in Mercer; a daughter, Amy Bobbitt (Mike) in Jackson Center; a brother, John W. King (Phyllis) in Wilmington, Del.; and grandchildren, Devin Bobbitt (Jenna) and Dylan Bobbitt.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Betty Yeager, Pauline (Roy) Marsh and Nancy (William) Flannery; and brothers, L. Robert (Mary) King, Russell King and Norman King.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Tina Keller will officiate.

Burial: Immediately following services at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
