Mercer - Walter "Bill" Barnes III of Mercer, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2026. He was 54 years old. Bill was born in Grove City in Sept. 23, 1971, to the late Walter William Barnes II and Mary Alice Ryder.

Bill married Mindy Jo Truran on July 2, 2010. He was also employed by Wabtec Corp. (formerly GE Transportation) for over 30 years as a Material Controller.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman, had a passion for cars, loved caring for his dogs, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Surviving are two step-sons, Cody (Serena) Holmes of Merce; Shawn (Molly Bengs) Holmes of Grove City; two grandsons Parker; and Jameson Holmes; and one brother, Randy (Bonnie) Barnes of Jackson Center. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mindy Jo Barnes.

The family will have a "Celebration of Life" from 1 to 5 p.m. on May 17, at Rudy's Tavern and Grille, 1641 Mercer Grove City Road, Mercer..
