Farrell, PA - Shirley J. Coxson, 94, of Farrell, passed away July 16, 2025, at Jameson Nursing and Rehab in New Castle.
Born May 29, 1931, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Richard and Mildred (Park) Watters.
A 1949 graduate of New Castle High School, she was employed for nine years at Citizens National Bank, but enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life, raising her three children.
She was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir and played in the bell choir.
Among her varied interests, she enjoyed reading, crosswords, watching TV, going to the casino, being in card clubs and going out to dinner.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 70 years, Delbert Leroy Coxson, whom she married on Aug. 13, 1955.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Wendi (David Reynolds) Tkatch of Boardman, Ohio; and Hollie (Bob) Volkay of Farrell; one son, Darrin (Dr. Toni) Coxson of Easley, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Victoria, Elizabeth, Andrew, Dr. Kristopher, Nathan and Lauren; and one great-granddaughter, Indigo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Watters and Richard Watters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church or Cornerhouse Church in Hubbard, Ohio.
Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday (7-19-25) at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. Jordan Rimmer and Rev. David Coxson officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
