Ruby I. Johnston, 87, of Hadley, Deer Creek Township, passed away early Saturday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2021, at the AHN Grove City, with her son and daughter by her side.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1933, in Greenville, a daughter of the late Francis Armour and Isabelle Harry. On April 25, 1953, she married her husband of 55 years, Samuel J. Johnston, who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2008.

In 1966, she and her husband became dairy farmers, milking Holsteins on the family farm in Deer Creek Township for 30 years, along with her children.

She was devoted to her family and enjoyed being a grandmother and "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers; her love for flowers led Ruby to employment at the former Helbling Greenville, Fredonia.

She was a lifelong member of the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church. Ruby looked forward each year to making donuts at the Sheakleyville Old Home Week.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Mark) Jones, Hadley; Dianne (Gary) Miller, Sharon; Carol L. Greggs, Sheakleyville; Robert Johnston, Hadley; and Chris Johnston, Hadley; a sister, Gail Benson, Florida; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Ramp, Greenville; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband; a son, Rodney Johnston; a grandson, Jason E. Greggs; a great-grandson, Gavin Nathaniel Miller; a brother, Lloyd Ramp; an infant son; and a son-in-law, Leroy E. Greggs.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87, Sheakleyville, PA. 16151.
