Ronald Allen Mitcheltree (Ron) Obituary

Sharpsville, PA - Ronald Allen Mitcheltree, 80, of Sharpsville, passed in the early morning of April 9, 2026, following a terminal illness.

Ron was born Feb. 26, 1946, and grew up in West Middlesex, where he and his siblings were close friends with the neighbor's kids. "The Gang," as they still affectionately call themselves, spent hours playing in the surrounding woods and fields.

He attended West Middlesex High School and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He attended Youngstown University and was drafted into the Marines. He ranked top in his class after basic training and was recruited to Quantico, Va. during the Vietnam War. Ron was ranked Corporal E4 and was responsible for calculating payroll by hand and distributing checks.

Once out of the military, Ron then became a paramedic, and later a nurse. He worked at Sharon General Hospital as an LPN for over 30 years.

Ron was an avid nature photographer and enjoyed running and walking in the local parks, especially Pymatuning and Buhl Park.

Ron had one of those rare gifts, an incredible memory paired with a truly generous heart. Ron volunteered his time at the local soup kitchen and donated to many charities. Hidden behind a sometimes-grumpy presentation, you might find an eye roll followed by a side grin. He remembered everyone's birthdays and anniversaries and never missed a chance to send a card (usually a free one he received in the mail) or kind message.

Ron was sharp-witted, thoughtful and strong both physically and mentally, but what stood out most was how truly and deeply he cared about the people around him. Although Ron had no children of his own and sometimes portrayed the "grumpy uncle" on the outside, we all knew that deep down he loved his family and would help in any way possible.

As a family, we couldn't express our feelings of love and admiration for Ron any better than one of his favorite quotes:

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. You have made my world more beautiful for being in it.

He is survived by his oldest brother Gary (Christine) Mitcheltree of Effingham, S.C.; sister-in -law Linda Mitcheltree; brother-in-law Randy (Lucia) Edmundson; nieces Melissa Boatwright, Jessica (Cameron) Reed, K.C. Zelina (Ben); nephews Greg Mitcheltree (Tracy) and Keith Mitcheltree (Karen); great-nieces and great-nephews Jamie (Vicki) and Will (Tina) McGrew, George (Ollie) Boatwright, Christopher, Zachary and Madison, Jack and Olivia Mitcheltree, Stella, Sylvie and Sullivan Reed and Samantha Zelina; great-great-niece and great-great-nephew Teagan and James Harty McGrew; and longtime friends Phil Godrey (Vi) and Steve (Nicole) Godfrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Mitcheltree and Elsie Pantall Mitcheltree; brothers James Mitcheltree, David Mitcheltree; sister Carol Edmundson; nephew Jeff Mitcheltree; and great-niece Taylor Mitcheltree.
