Ronald E. Emeigh Obituary

Ronald E. Emeigh, 83, of Franklin, died peacefully Wednesday evening, April 12, 2017., at his home.

He was born May 12, 1933, in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Clarence and Florence Livengood Emeigh.

He graduated high school in 1951 and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He earned the rank of corporal, and was awarded the Occupational Medal (Germany), the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from active duty on April 14, 1955.

He was married to the former Norma L. Kaylor on May 3, 1955. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2005. On Oct. 2, 2010, he married the former Mary K. Guyton Peterson in the Polk United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lea Guiney, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Emeigh was employed for many years as a draftsman. He began his career at Koppers of Pittsburgh and retired from Tetra Tech in Bridgeville. He remained a much-respected and relied upon drafting consultant well into his later years.

He was a faithful member of the Polk United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and was very actively involved with the Second Harvest Mission Program.

While living in the Pittsburgh area, he was a former member of the Eagles and Kiwanis clubs. He remained an active 32nd Degree Mason, where he had formerly served as president. Through the years, he was actively involved with numerous Masonic Temples and Consistories within the local, state and national levels. He was an aficionado of opera and classical music, and was a longtime member of the Schubert Musical and Literary Club of Oil City. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around his home in his spare time. He loved spending time in nature and the outdoors.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mary of Franklin, he is survived by his children, Geoffrey A. Emeigh Sr. and his wife, Trudi, of Penn Hills, James W. Emeigh of Franklin and Lucinda G. Lipko of Slippery Rock; his grandchildren, Geoffrey A. Emeigh Jr. and his wife, Heather, James R. Emeigh and his wife, Erica, Adah L. Coleman and her husband, Justin, Marlena C. Lipko and Karley J. Emeigh; six great-grandsons; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Allen Emeigh, six additional brothers and a sister.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed in his name to either Polk United Methodist Church or to your local chapter of The American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.

Calling hours: No public visitation, in keeping with his wishes.

Service: Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday (5-13-17) at 2 p.m. in the Polk United Methodist Church, 715 Main St., Polk, with the Rev. Drew Bell, pastor, officiating. Immediately following the services, full military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Funeral Honor Guard of Franklin.
