Granite Falls, N.C. - Robert "Bob" James Gassner Sr., 85, of Granite Falls, N.C., formerly of Clark, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 2, 2025, at UNC Healthcare in Morgantown, N.C.
Robert was born to the late Stephen and Rose (Mezaros) Gassner on July 18, 1939.
He served in the Army from 1961 through 1964.
Robert married the love of his life, Margaret (French) Gassner, on Oct. 16, 1962.
Robert was co-owner of Gassner Brother's Truck Repair, which he owned with his brother Stephen. He also owned Gassner Trucking and employed several employees through the years.
Robert's favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family, sharing memories over a good meal and a cold beer.
Surviving at home is his wife of 61 years, Margaret (French) Gassner.
Also surviving are his three sons, Robert Gassner and wife Dee Ann; Steven Gassner and wife Jamie; and Charles Gassner and wife Lisa; a brother, Stephen Gassner and wife Linda; a sister, Rosalie (Gassner) Arthur; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Robert was preceded in death by both his parents, a daughter, sister and three brother-in-laws.
Calling hours: 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday (5-15-25) at Grace Chapel Community Church, 4075 Lamor Road, Hermitage, 16148.
Service: 3 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Randy Emory officiating.
A dinner following the service will be held at Sharpsville VFW Post 6404, located at 215 N. Walnut St., Sharpsville, 16150.
