Richard Shingledecker Sr., West Salem Township, Greenville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at home with his family. He was 75.
He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in New Castle, the son of Clarence and Pearl Lehman Shingledecker.
He was a graduate of Badger High School.
He was an Army veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.
He married Linda Brakeman July 18, 1970. She preceded him in death June 22, 2019.
Richard worked at GATX for four years. He then went to General Motors in Lordstown for 33.5 years, where he was an assembler.
He loved gardening and canning what they grew, raising animals and being with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Penny Hartzel of South Carolina and Tammy (Donald) Buckley of Greenville; a son, Richard Schingledecker Jr. of Sharpsville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas (Doris) Shingledecker of Oklahoma and John (Georgianna) Shingledecker of Masury, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth; a niece and a nephew.
