Richard C. Mellon Obituary

Richard C. Mellon, 216 Bradley Road, Jackson Center (Jackson Township) passed away at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Beaver, Pa., at 8:06 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, after an extended illness. He was 73.

Mr. Mellon was born Jan. 5, 1943, in Mercer to Paul T. and Margaret Catherine Lewis Mellon.

He worked for his parents at Mercer Garbage Service; at Foster Grading; at Cooper Jarrett as a mechanic; and Interstate Chemical as a truck driver.

He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Mercer.

He was a member of Hebron Lodge 575 Free and Accepted Masons, Mercer; Mercer Moose; and Jackson Center Field and Stream Sportsman's Club.

Mr. Mellon enjoyed his family and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, especially hunting with them. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed donating his time to the Jackson Center Field and Stream Sportsman's Club; loved traveling and camping, football and was always willing to help others.

He married the former Jean McClay on Aug. 11, 1961; she survives at home. Also surviving are a son, Brett Mellon and his wife Lisa, Jackson Center; a daughter, Kelly and her husband Brian Pryor, Grove City; a brother, James Mellon, Wiemar, Calif.; and two granddaughters, Lyndsey Mellon and Abigayle Mellon

His parents preceded him in death.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday (9-6-16) in the CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer.

Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday (9-7-16) in the funeral home with Dr. Peter Dembroski of Bethany Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Township.
