Hermitage, PA - Randy Mentrek, 71, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday evening, July 4, 2026, in his home.

Mr. Mentrek was born Feb. 12, 1955, in Sharon, a son of the late Alexander Mentrek and Patricia Mentrek Yourchisin.

He was a member of the 1973 graduating class from Sharon High School, where he excelled as a member of the varsity basketball team.

Randy completed his bachelor's degree in finance at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and later completed graduate courses at Youngstown State University.

In 2014, Randy retired from Dean Foods in Sharpsville, where he worked as a financial controller for 15 years.

He previously worked in a similar capacity for Mercer Forge, Mercer.

Randy was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.

Earlier in life, he enjoyed coaching his sons in the Hermitage Little League, and later in life, loved attending his grandchildren's many sporting events.

Randy looked forward to annual vacations to the beach with family, and during retirement, became an avid golfer.

He also loved rooting for the Cleveland Browns and had a lifelong fondness for the Cincinnati Reds.

A self-proclaimed chili and haluska connoisseur, Randy loved feeding the masses with his homemade recipes.

His beloved wife of nearly 47 years, Mimi (Johnston) Mentrek, whom he married on Aug. 18, 1979, survives at home.

Randy is also survived by two sons, Steven Mentrek, Weston, Ohio; and Gregory Mentrek (Kim), Burlington, Ontario, Canada; twin daughters, Erin Paras (John), Winchester, Va.; and Genna Roskey (Steve), Pittsburgh; nine grandsons, "Team Mentrek," Keegan, Keller, Austin, Ryder, Nathan and Conner Mentrek, and Graham and Greysen Paras, and Milo Roskey; his favorite granddaughter, Elliana Roskey; and two sisters, Wendy Novak (John), West Middlesex; and Carrie DeJulia (David), Sharon.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (7-8-26) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial: 10:30 a.m. Thursday (7-9-26) in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, with Rev. John Miller, as celebrant.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
