Ed was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Utica, Pa., to Charles and Hazel (Heffern) Heckman and graduated from Lakeview High School.

Ed married the love of his life, Frances "Fran" Heckman, Sept. 23, 1961. She preceded him in death, passing away 15 months ago.

Ed is survived by his daughters, Marti (Lydia Lehmuller) Heckman, Estero, Fla.; and Lonna (Bill) Fischer, Stoneboro; grandchildren, Caitlin (Camaron) Alexander; Raygen (Sean) Zillig; Reise Fischer; and Travis (Rachelle) Marsteller; great-grandchildren, Finley Alexander; and Emma; Leigha; Alexa; and Gavin Marsteller; brother, Fred (Jean) Heckman; sisters-in-law, Betty and Barb Heckman; several nieces and nephews and son-in-law, Clay Marsteller.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Marci Marsteller; his brothers, Dale and Chuck Heckman; and his great-grandson, Dawson Marsteller.

Ed was a member of the Unity of Faith Church, formerly the Stoneboro Methodist Church, for many years. During his career, he worked at Westinghouse and Foster Grading.

He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors with his father, brothers, grandchildren and nephews. Ed often played golf with his family or in local leagues during the summers, enjoying the warm weather.

Ed regularly planted a garden and took great pride in doing so. He was a self-taught carpenter/mechanic and could build or fix anything. He made countless things with his hands, and was such a talented handyman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ed's name to the Lakeview Meals on Wheels, PO Box 704, Stoneboro PA 16153 or the Susan G. Komen Foundation at www.komen.org in memory of his daughter Marci.
