New Wilmington, PA - Patricia Ann "Pat" Ahlum, 81, of New Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Shenango on the Green.

Born at home in Shamokin, Pa., she was the daughter of Vincent Anthony Vedral and Irene (Gosk) Vedral.

Pat was a 1961 graduate of Shamokin High School, Shamokin. She graduated from the Harrisburg General Hospital's School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

Pat was a lifelong nurse, retiring from UPMC Greenville Hospital where she worked in a number of units including the Emergency Room along with several other outpatient units.

Before moving to western Pennsylvania, she worked at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington.

Pat was a member of the St. James the Apostle Parish, now Holy Spirit Parish of Lawrence County. Lee and Pat are currently members of The Church of the Good Shepard Parish, West Middlesex.

Pat was a past member of New Wilmington's Thursday Club, as well as a member and past officer of the Jameson Hospital Junior Guild.

Pat assisted her husband, Dr. C. Leon "Lee" Ahlum, withal his Rotary projects and was recognized as a Rotary Foundation Major Donor-Level Two.

Pat's greatest pleasure was being with her four grandchildren, Becca, Gabby, Jaime and Anthony, and their spouses Andy, Jeff, Scott and Layla.

She was looking forward to be with her great-grandchildren Lilith and Nicholas.

Pat is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lee; two daughters, Debra A. (Nicholas) Helmer of Erie; and Denise M. (Mark) McKay of New Castle; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Andrew) Nicewonger, Gabrielle (Jeffery) Thompson, Jaime (Scott) Harris and Anthony (Layla Joseph) Houston; two great-grandchildren, Lilith Ren Thompson and Nicholas Scott Harris; and siblings Eileen M. Vedral and David V. Vedral.

Pat was preceded in death, along with her parents, by a brother, Allen James Vedral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Dr. C. Leon Ahlum Rotary Servant-Leader Scholarship" c/o New Wilmington Rotary Club, Randy Richardson, President, 521 S New Castle Street, New Wilmington, PA 16142.

The scholarship will be given annually to a Wilmington Area High School graduating senior who best fulfills the servant-leader criteria.

Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday (4-29-25) at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, 16142.

Blessing service: 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, led by Father Glenn Whitman, pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
