Mercer, PA - Melsena Kelso, 102, of Mercer, peacefully met her Lord on June 2, 2025, at Avalon Springs in Mercer.

Born on July 26, 1922, in Mercer, Melsena lived a full and blessed life, devoted to her faith, family, and friends.

The daughter of Paul and Nancy Root Steingrabe, Melsena was a loving and dedicated mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was a 1940 graduate of New Wilmington High School.

Melsena married Eujean "Barney" Klumph, her high school sweetheart, on March 6, 1941. The couple was blessed to be married 53 years. Eujean passed in 1994.

She married a lifetime friend, Samuel Kelso, on Sept. 5, 1998. He passed in 2021.

Melsena was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church for more than 85 years.

Mrs. Kelso was employed by the West Middlesex Area School District, working as a cook and cafeteria manager.

She greatly enjoyed camping, cooking, baking, and hand quilted more than 100 beautiful quilts.

Mrs. Kelso is survived by three sons and one daughter, William (Elaine) Klumph of Sharpsville; Ernest (Sharon) Klumph of Mercer; Charles (Cynthia) Klumph of Mercer; and Sandra (Roger) Erdice of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor Spangler of Greenville; and Dorothy Plunkett of Jackson, Miss.

Melsena was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Chester, Samuel, Howard, Charles, George, and Thomas Steingrabe; sisters, Mary "Dolly" Miller and Eve Engle; and grandchildren, Kelly Radu and Jeffrey Gilliland.

She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and friends.
