Mary E. (Surrena) Brown, 89, of Grove City, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, following an extended illness.

Mary was born in Harrisville on Feb 2, 1935, to Oatis Paul and Bessie Pearl (Collingwood) Surrena. She was the last survivor of 11 children.

Mary was raised in the Protestant faith.

She had an honorable and passionate career as a certified nurse's aide, serving the patients of Orchard Manor for 64 years, until her retirement in 2020. Mary adored her patients, taking care of them and their family's needs.

She enjoyed working with crafts and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by four children, James Kentz Jr., Theresa "Teri" Kentz, both Grove City, Donna Walochik and husband Ron, Mercer, Patricia Surrena and husband Robert, Harrisville; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Schultz, Margaret Jewell, infant Ruby Surrena; brothers, Sherill, Ray, Jackson, Donald, Francis "Gene", Russell, and Oatis.
