Grove City, PA - Mary L. Maxwell, 80, of Grove City, passed Sunday morning, June 1, 2025, following a brief illness.

Mary was born on Dec. 11, 1944, in Grove City, to Thomas and Leila (McCoy) Shipton.

She married Thomas L. Maxwell on Nov. 25, 1966; he preceded her in death on May 20, 2007.

She was raised in the Protestant faith, attended Grove City schools, and worked in dietary and housekeeping at Hillcrest Nursing Center and Orchard Manor.

During her younger years, she was a housekeeper at the Park Motel.

Mary loved cooking and spending time with her family. She enjoyed working on puzzles and playing Bingo.

She is survived by three children, Brenda Whetzel, John Maxwell and Richard A. Maxwell, all of Grove City; four grandchildren, Shawn, Jesse (Amanda), Todd Maxwell and Austin Whetzel; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Steven, Patrick and Elouise Maxwell; and a sister, Patricia Kerr, Erie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Barbara Wiseman and Dolores "Tootie" Cicero; and three brothers, James, Carl "Butch" and Thomas Shipton.
