Mary Barbara Hardy, formerly of Wallis Avenue and Paul Street in Farrell, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in Saint John XXIII Home, Hermitage.

Being born on March 15, 1929, in Farrell, to Stephen and Mary Bogdan Hardy, she was blessed with 92 years.

Mary Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Farrell High School and then received a bachelor of science degree in home economics from Penn State University in 1951.

She was employed as a home economics teacher in the Farrell Area School District for 34 years, retiring in 1985.

Mary Barbara was a lifetime member of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Hermitage, where she served on the church council, made altar covers and robes for the altar boys, aided in the rummage sales, Chinese auctions, and helped make pierogis.

She also belonged to the Farrell Alumni Association, Penn State Alumni Association, and the National Education Association.

Mary Barbara enjoyed bowling, making afghans, and traveling extensively with her sister.

She is survived by several cousins and was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Martha Ann Hardy.

Per Mary Barbara's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. John's Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Fr. David Mastroberte.

Interment: St. John's Orthodox Cemetery, following the service.
