Mercer - Mary Anna Davis, Mercer, passed away peacefully in Maple Farms Nursing Center Monday, Oct. 27, 2025. She was 96.
Mary Anna was born April 28, 1929, in Holdenville, Okla., to Rose and Augustus 'Gus' Guiler.
Mary Anna was known for her vivacious character. She made Mercer her lifelong home, where her spark for life and deep community involvement touched countless lives. As she was raising her children, she worked tirelessly with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTA and as a Republican Committeewoman.
Mary Anna's love for cooking was more than a passion; it was a gift she shared generously. Her time spent in the kitchens of the McGuffin House and Yellow Creek Inn became legendary, and her cobblers were the stuff of family lore, eagerly anticipated and fondly remembered. Her competitive spirit thrived in lively card games, whether at one of her many bridge clubs or surrounded by family at the dining table.
Mary Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Verne Davis, her son, David Davis, and her dear friend later in life, Tucker Harris.
Mary Anna's legacy lives on through her daughter, Mary Lynn Pierce (Greg Pierce), Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Barb Davis; her grandchildren, Mark Pierce (Denise Pierce), Erin Pierce (Jeff Ruder), Jacob Davis (Gretchen Davis), and Jenny Davis; her great-grandchildren, Kristen Pierce (Stephen Boyle), Rachel Haensgen (Tyler Haensgen), Jacob Pierce, Madeline Ruder, Norman Ruder, Tucker Davis, Emme Davis, and Izzy Ignosh; and her great-great-grandchildren, Parker Boyle, Teddy Boyle, and Maya Haensgen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maple Farms Nursing Center, 604 Oak St., Akron, PA 17501 in gratitude for their loving care.
