Martha J Adams, 85, of 446 Smith Road, Hadley, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Avalon Spring, Mercer.

Born March 10, 1932, in Hadley, to Raymond W. Smith and Abbie E. (Brooks) Smith, she married Wayne C. Adams, May 28, 1952. He survives. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this May.

She graduated in 1950 from Hadley High School as valedictorian.

She was a member of Hadley Presbyterian Church, Hadley.

Martha was wage tax collector for Perry Township in Hadley for over 20 years. She loved her horses, gardening, homemaking, and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Adams and his wife, Mary, of Florida, and Brett Adams and his wife, Rannie, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Lisa Adams of Hadley and Betsy Cannatti and her husband, Joseph, of Mooresville, N.C.; a sister, Lorraine Shaffer of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the companion of her deceased daughter Karen, Thomas Miles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen Adams; and a sister, Joann Ashe.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday July 1, 2017, at the Hadley Presbyterian Church, Hadley, Pa.
