Margaret M. Thompson Obituary

Margaret M. Thompson, 93, of West Salem Township, formerly of Jamestown, passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 4, 2023, at St. Paul's Senior Living Community in Greenville.

She was born in Sharon on Nov. 12, 1929, to the late Joseph M. and Marie (Smith) Eddy.

Margaret was a 1948 graduate of the former Fredonia-Delaware High School and a member of New Hope Fellowship, formerly Kennard United Methodist Church.

She had previously worked in a dress shop in New Castle and held various secretarial positions around the Greenville area, including the Greenville Medical Center.

She was also a homemaker and devoted herself to her son, Rick, who was born with a disability. She raised him to be a hard worker and taught him how to live a normal life.

Margaret volunteered at the Good Shepherd Center and had a variety of hobbies, including bowling, playing Bunco, snowmobiling, boating, fishing, traveling, caring for her cats, and feeding the birds and deer in her back yard.

She really loved entertaining family and friends at their home on Pymatuning Lake.

She was married to E. Bert Thompson on Sept. 30, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Margaret is survived by a sister, Alma Winkler of Hermitage; a brother, Robert Eddy of Erie; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Thompson of Sandy Lake; a special aunt, Naomi Smith of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard "Rick" Thompson; a sister, Barbara Taylor; two brothers-in-law, William Winkler and Paul Taylor; and two sisters-in-law,

Marlene Eddy and Mary McLaughlin.

Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday (11-9-23) and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday (11-10-23) in OSBORNE-WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES, 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Theresa Robison, pastor of New Hope Fellowship, officiating.

Margaret will be laid to rest beside her husband in Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia.
