Neshannock Twp., Pennsylvania - Margaret "Peggy" L. McKinley, 95, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of Jan. 29, 2023, at her residence.
Born Jan. 27, 1928, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Leslie T. and Hazel (Hunt) McCracken.
On Aug. 14, 1948, she married her beloved husband of 71 years, Paul V. McKinley, who preceded her in death on June 27, 2020.
Peggy studied at Paramount Beauty School Academy, graduating with a degree in cosmetology. For most of her life, she worked as a Beautician, employed at Temple Beauty Salon, until her retirement. For several years, she worked at Prima Pizza shop of New Wilmington, Pa., and became the cornerstone of her son's business.
Peggy will always be remembered by her family and friends for her kind and caring demeanor. Her kindness even caught the attention of Pittsburgh Sports Columnist Gene Collier while visiting Prima Pizza Shop, Peggy politely told Gene they did not have the Cherry Coke available, he ordered and in turn, Gene mentioned her in an article commenting on her kindness.
She was a proud co-owner and operator of the New Wilmington Laundromat with late husband Paul since 1982. She spent many a day talking with the shop owners and patrons in the Boro. Peggy had the gift of welcoming you to the community and never forgot a name that went with each face.
Peggy was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls Assembly #1, where she was the recipient of the Grand Cross of Color Rainbow. She was also a 75-year member of Eastern Star and the Girl Scouts. Peggy was an active member of Third Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Woman's Association Board and was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday school class. Among her hobbies and interests, she loved to collect antiques and collectibles, but most of all, Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, William L. (Myrna) McKinley of Conneaut Lake, Pa., and Timothy P. McKinley of Mentor, Ohio; one daughter, Michelle L. (James) Burns of New Castle; five grandchildren, Chad M. McKinley and William Lucas McKinley of Naples, Fla., James P. (Jenna) Gray of Poland, Ohio, Epiphany N. (Shane) Lehman of New Castle and Vanessa Van Besien of New Hampshire; four great-grandchildren, Elliana E. Benincase of New Castle, Owen J. Gray, Harper J. Gray, and Caleb J. Gray all of Poland, Ohio; one brother, Leslie Stewart McCracken of New Castle, and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice. They would also like to express their sincere thanks to her caregivers, Alicia and Amanda.
In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie JoAnn Long and Glenna McDaniel.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday (2-3-23) at the funeral home, with The Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church and The Rev. Dr. Jordan Rimmer of Northminster Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial : Alongside her husband at Castleview Cemetery.
