Margaret "Peggy" Bish Cunningham, Bedford Road, West Middlesex, passed away April 5, 2025, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle, following surgery. She was 87.

Peggy was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Fredonia to James Sanford Wheaton and Eva Marie Dresch Wheaton.

She was a 1956 graduate of Hickory High School. It was there that she met Bob Bish, and following her graduation, she and Bob married June 29, 1957. Peggy worked at the Hickory Drive-In and later was a teller at the Merchant and Manufacturers Bank.

Eventually, Peggy and Bob opened Bish's Golden Dawn and had a successful business which lasted their entire marriage.

Bob preceded her in death, May 24, 1993. On Jan. 19, 2002, Peggy married W. Wayne Cunningham. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 2009.

Peggy was a member of the West Middlesex United Methodist Church, The Order of Eastern Star, Farrell Chapter 156, and served as a past matron.

She was a successful businesswoman, loved having dinner with friends, and took pride in her home. Peggy enjoyed snowmobiling, going to the camp in Marienville and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she called her diamonds.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheri A. (Donald) Schlegel, West Middlesex; and two grandsons, Jacob Robert (Lauren Davis) Unverdorben, West Middlesex; and Maxwell Paul Unverdorben, serving his country in the U.S. Air Force in Clovis, N.M.; granddaughter, Kylee Schlegel, West Middlesex; sister, Shirley Gibson, Hermitage; and brother-in-law, Bill Mitcheltree, Hermitage.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Peggy Lynn Bish; both husbands, and three sisters, Dorothy Gibson, Norma Schell and Karen Mitcheltree, as well as a brother, James Wheaton.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, 3123 Main St., West Middlesex, PA 16159.

Services: 6 p.m. Wednesday. Eastern Star service followed by a funeral service officiated by Rev. Wade Barto, former pastor of the Methodist Church.

Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
