Hermitage, Pennsylvania - Marcella "Marcie" Mondoc, 82, of Hermitage, passed away on Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2025, in her home with her daughter, April, and her grandson, Conner, by her side.
Marcie was born on Aug. 29, 1943, in Sharon, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Pacora) Madasz. She was a graduate of West Middlesex High School and attended Beauty School in Sharpsville.
After completing beauty school, she worked as a beautician at Betty Devine's for a short time before starting a long career inside the hair salons of Strouss/Kauffman department stores as a stylist and manager in the former Shenango Valley Mall. She ended her hair stylist days at the salon inside Joseph Hornes Department Store, before moving to Medicine Bowl, Wyoming, in the early 1980s. There, she managed apartments, was the director of the Medicine Bowl Historical Museum and worked at Carbon County Coal Mine as an underground coal miner before moving back to the Shenango Valley. Upon her return to the area, she did janitorial maintenance for several personal clients, doctor offices and churches over the next 30-plus years, only retiring last year from the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Joseph's Church when she was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Marcie was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.
An independent, hardworking woman, she loved having fun and was always on the go. She looked forward to going out with her friends, volunteering for different causes and spending time with her family. She looked forward to blessing others with her crafts and baking.
She is survived by a daughter, April Cook, of Bryan, Ohio; two sons, Eric (Cheri) Mondoc, Douglasville, and John (Laura) Mondoc, Casper, Wyo.; eight grandchildren, Conner Cook, who relocated to assist with end of life care of his grandmother, Tyler, Kyle, Branden and Samantha Mondoc, Matthew Reed, Crista (Bruce) Gothard and Carrie Ferraiuolo; 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Jones; a brother, James (Bernardine) Madasz, all of West Middlesex; and several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends
In addition to her parents, Marcie was preceded in death by three siblings, infant John Madasz, Margaret Bowser and Alex Madasz; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Latimer.
Calling hours: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday (12-13-25) at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Father Glenn Whitman, as celebrant.
