Louis Michael Popovich (Lou) Obituary

Louis Michael Popovich, 80, of Andover, Ohio, joined heaven's choir on Monday, April 13, 2020, after a brief illness.

He was born on July 7, 1939, in Farrell, Pennsylvania, the son of Nick Popovich, Sr. and Margaret (Zec). Lou formerly lived in Vernon Township and attended Vernon school. He later joined the United States Army, serving from 1959 to 1962, having been in Germany for almost two years. On Dec. 8, 1962, he married his soulmate, Diane White, at the Kinsman United Methodist Church. Lou owned and operated Country Disposal for over 28 years.

He became a member of the Andover Christian Church in 1978 where he served faithfully throughout his life. Lou's greatest love was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he accepted in 1970. It was through music that Lou was led to the Lord, and music was his gift that he shared with others. He recorded two albums, Lou Popovich Sings and This Is My Story. Lou served as an elder and deacon, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and shared his gifted voice throughout his life.

Lou's second greatest love was his family. He was a support to his girls whether it be softball, 4-H, or high school musicals. Lou's greatest joy was seeing his family gathered around the kitchen island during the holidays, each giving thanks for all of their blessings. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and later enjoyed watching wildlife in his backyard.

Lou is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Diane Popovich of Andover, Ohio; three beautiful daughters, LuAnne (Bob) Pifer of Salley, S.C., Lisa (Ken) Wells of Rootstown, Ohio, and Mary-Margaret (Doug) Wilson of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania; brother Nick (Lee) Popovich, Jr. of Orangeville, Ohio; his eight very loved grandchildren, Larry, Luke (Amber), Amanda (Todd), Joshua, Maria, Laurel, Bethany, and Emma; and the many nieces and nephews whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
