Kay M. Dannels Obituary

Grove City, Pennsylvania - Kay M. Dannels, 79, of Grove City, passed peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, evening at Orchard Manor in Grove City.

Kay was born in Grove City, on Dec. 23, 1945 to Lytle and Pearl (Cooper) Sowers. She married Gary C. Dannels on Feb. 22, 1964.

She was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1963.

Kay spent most of her career as a sports editor, starting first at the Franklin News Herald, later moving to the Allied News spanning more than 30 years. She was very passionate about her work and enjoyed interviewing and writing about area sports. Later, she became the secretary for the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce before retiring.

Kay loved her Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates and Steelers. She was an avid bowler, bowling for many years in leagues and traveling to compete in tournaments around the country. She also enjoyed playing cards and singing in her church choir. Kay also very much enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren's sporting events throughout the years.

She is survived by two children; April (Robert) Grace and Doug (Jamie) Dannels, both of Grove City; 5 grandchildren, Cody, Ryan, Alex, Addison and Brooklyn; 2 great-grandchildren, Maclan and Torrin.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Kay's memory to Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St., Grove City, or Grove City Area Pet Rescue, 300 Oak St., Grove City.
