Joseph E. Blasko Obituary

Joseph E. Blasko, 80, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at his home in Hermitage with his wife by his side.

Born in Farrell on Aug. 19, 1937, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Virostek Blasko.

A 1955 graduate of Sharon High School, Joseph attended Youngstown University school of engineering before being drafted into the Army during the Cuban Missle Crisis.

He was employed by Westinghouse Electric and later at Sawhill Tubular where he retired. Joe especially enjoyed playing golf, gardening, taking care of his lawn, reading and following his favorite sports teams.

His memory will live through his wife, Mary (Giordano) Blasko, whom he married on July 4, 1970.

In addition to his wife, Mary, Joe is survived by a sister, Helen Blasko of Sharon; nephews and nieces, John Doyle of Warren, Mich., Donna (David) Sotak of Allentown, Tom (Theresa) Doyle of Wheatland, Mary Ann (John) Murphy of Farrell; his godchild, Debby Doyle of Hermitage; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, John Blasko; and two sisters, Ann Blasko and Mary Doyle.

Joseph's family would like to thank Sharon Regional Hospice and Dr. Nevin Kosic for their support and compassion.

Calling hours: From 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday (4-24-18) at St. John's Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Road, Hermitage.

Service: Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (4-24-18) at the church, with Fr. David Mastroberte.

Interment: St. John's Orthodox Cemetery.
