John Roy Snyder Obituary

Mercer, Pa. - John Roy Snyder Jr., Mercer, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at home. He was 76.

Born Nov. 15, 1948, in Grove City, he was the son of John Roy and Patricia (Rihel) Snyder Sr.

John was a graduate of Mercer High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army after high school. He served during Vietnam for two tours from 1968 to 1970.

John was an avid hunter, a lifetime member of Jackson Field and Stream Club, member of Sandy Lake Sportsmen's Club and Fredonia American Legion.

For 35 years, John worked for Penn Power as a lineman.

On Nov. 23, 1974, John married the former Joyce Ann Philson, who preceded him in death Feb. 22, 2009. Together they had two children who survive, Erin (Joseph) Miller and Adam Snyder and his fiancée Jamie Buchanan, all Mercer; two grandchildren, Jaxsen and Elainna Miller; a sister, Susan (George) Hurtt-Leighty, Mercer; his companion, Marge Lynn, Fredonia; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding John in death are his parents, wife, Joyce Ann Snyder, and a brother, Ronald Snyder.

Calling hours: None.

Service: A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (11-15-25) in Clarks Mills Community Church, 3813 Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, with Pastor Michael Holley officiating. Casual attire is encouraged.

Burial: Was at Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia, where military honors were rendered.
