John T. Pariza Obituary

John T. Pariza of Boardman, Ohio, formerly of West Middlesex, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. He was 83.

John was born Dec. 28, 1932, in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of John and Jennie Sacui Pariza.

He was a millwright for 30 years at Wheatland Tube Co. before retiring in 1993.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, John served during the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts.

He was a member of Korean War Veterans 137, Youngstown; Korean War Veterans Memorial Group of Mercer County; American Legion Post 432 of Wheatland; and Legion of Volunteers Romanian-American Veterans.

He also was a member of the former Mill Creek Baptist Church.

John succeeded in getting the state Route 680 name changed to The Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway and played a major part in the laying of the roses for the Korean War veterans. He also enjoyed participating in local parades.

His first wife, the former Shirley J. Gibbs, whom he married Feb. 14, 1954, passed away May 12, 2001.

John was a hero to his family and will be sadly missed by his second wife, the former Beverly Poidmore, whom he married May 9, 2009; his daughters, Janice Rae Pariza, Delta, Colo.; Terrilynn (Bill) Simpson, Youngstown; Jill Pariza, Austintown, Ohio; stepdaughter, Sharon (Tony) Willmitch, Youngstown; his grandchildren, John Simpson and Billie Jo Anzivino; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Aurora.

He also leaves: his sisters, Mary Delisio, Youngstown; and Vickie Alexandrides, Poland, Ohio; stepsisters, Gladys Najul Brickhouse and Dora Najul, and his stepbrother, Richard Najul, all of Florida.

Besides his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his brother George Pariza, and his sister, Laura West.

Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Interment: Lake Park Cemetery with full military honors provided by the honor guard of Trumbull County American Legion Post 540.
