John Nelse Niemi
John Nelse Niemi, 79, of 768 S. Stateline Road, Masury, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., on Jan. 5, 1940, to the late Irving and Pauline (Maheras) Niemi.
John graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1959. He just recently attended his 60th-year reunion.
During his long career as an auto body technician, he worked at Harmen Motors, Sharon Auto Body and Advanced Auto Body then ending his career with his own business, John Niemi's Auto Body in Sharon and Masury, where he retired.
He was a devout Catholic and a member of Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Farrell. John was a member of the Blue Army and a Secular Franciscan. He was strongly involved in the Pro Life Movement and attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C. His spiritual life was an inspiration to all who knew him. John loved attending car shows and often could be found in friends' garages offering advice and fellowship.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Alma (Davis) Niemi; two sons from his first marriage to Mary Lou Masello, John Niemi of Hermitage, Jason Niemi of San Francisco; two grandchildren, Hallie and Cameron Niemi; his siblings, Irving (Naomi) Niemi of Sharon, Francis Ference, Ted (Derise) Niemi, all of Hermitage, and Diane Emery of West Middlesex; and several nieces and nephews. His stepchildren, David Davis of Virginia Beach, Va., Tracy (David) Nelson of Vermilion, Ohio, and Tammy Davis of Hubbard; step-grandchildren, Nick (Ashley) Nelson, Alexis (Alex) Baltas, Jacob Nelson, Michael Brant, Mathew Brant and Courtney Davis; and one step-great-grandchild, Joseph Covert. His blue tick coonhound, Lady, a.k.a. "Puppers," will miss his daily affections.
John will be remembered as a loving, kind, humble husband, father, grandfather and friend. Because of his love for humanity, he donated his body to science. A Mass will be celebrated in honor of him at Lady of Fatima Church at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, and/or ProlifeAcrossAmerica.org
