John Michael Fonagy of Brookfield, 76, left this earthly golf course on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, to golf forever at the five-star course in heaven.

John was born May 23, 1948, in Sharon, the first son of Kathryn (Kurpe) and John Fonagy, Jr.

He was a lifelong Brookfield resident, 1966 Brookfield High School graduate, and 1970 Youngstown State University graduate.

John was an accountant, retiring in July 2011 from Wheatland/Sawhill Tubular as general accounting manager, with 30 years of service.

John was an avid golfer, going on many golf outings down south. He belonged to Montana's Golf League at Tam O' Shanter and Looney Tunes League at Rolling Hills. To all his fellow golfers: "Hit them straight and long, and don't forget to pass on the snake."

To carry on John's legacy is his beloved daughter, Aleta Fonagy, and her guy, Jason Addy, of Hartford, Ohio; brother, Bill and Candy Fonagy of Poland, Ohio; nephew and niece, Kristofer and Tiffany Fonagy; numerous cousins; and grand-puppy, Ava Bear.

Greeting John with a beverage at the 19th hole in heaven will be Denise

(Andrak) Fonagy, his wife of more than 30 years; son, Erik Haun; his parents, Kathryn and John; his mother in law and father in law, Maria and Andrew Andrak, brother and sister in law, Nick and Ericka Andrak; and all his doggies, Scrappy, Laddie, Fella, Pepper, Mia, and beloved black lab, Sam; and his grand pup, Maxxi.
