There will be services on Sunday for Jerry A. Yorks of Hubbard, who passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at home. He was 76.
Jerry was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Flemington, Pa., a son of Gilbert and Florence Butler Yorks.
He was a graduate of Johnson University, Knoxville, Tenn., where he received his bachelor's degree, and attended Cincinnati Christian University.
He was a senior minister for 54 years, serving at Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard, as well as holding ministries in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Kentucky. He also taught at Grundy Bible Institute in Grundy, Va.
After retirement he worked for Associates in Counseling and Child Guidance of Hermitage.
He was a chapter leader of The Compassionate Friends in Hermitage. He also helped co-found The Compassionate Friends in Meadville. He also served on the board of directors of Elkhorn Valley Christian Camp in Bergholz, Ohio.
He will be sadly missed by his family; his wife, the former Judith M. Wunderley, whom he married Dec. 19, 1959; his daughters, Kristen M. Murphy, Masury; and Kara R. (Robert) DeLaFosse, New Richland, Minn.; and nine grandchildren, Joshua, Alexis, Lauren, Megan, Kayla, Aiden, Abigail, Colin and Amanda. He also leaves his brother, Roger (Vanda) Yorks, Newton, Miss.; his sisters, Janice (Ray) Santini, Red Lion, Pa.; and Judith Yorks, Bradford, Pa; and a sister-in-law, Sally Yorks, Texas.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Michele Diane Yorks and Rebecca Dawn Yorks; and his brothers, Gilbert Yorks and infant Philip Yorks.
