Jerry P. McKee
Jerry P. McKee died peacefully Sunday (Jan. 5, 2020) at home after an extended illness, with his family by his side. He was 78.
Jerry was born April 21, 1941, in Sharon, a son of Veronica Donahue McKee and Joseph McKee.
He attended the former St. Joseph School in Sharon and was a 1959 graduate of Sharon High School.
He married Dolores "Dee" Kobialko on Oct. 19, 1963. She survives at home.
Jerry worked as operations manager for the former Medal Distributing in Sharon for 30 years. After his retirement, he owned and operated Jerry's Tavern in Sharpsville for 15 years.
Not one to sit still, Jerry was a van driver for The Herald after he sold the tavern.
His greatest love was his family. He loved attending his grandchildren's plays, concerts, baseball, softball and basketball games.
Jerry loved cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and he was a lifelong die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was a man of few words, but always listened. He was quick to help those in need.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his four daughters, Dr. Amy McKee Kaufman and her husband, Scott, Sharon, Beth McKee Elliott, New York, Missy Klaric and her husband, Frank, and Tara Metro and her husband, Gene II, all Sharon; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy Grande and his wife, Jamie, Amber Stark and her husband, Casey, Alyssa Miller, Teague and Maiya Elliott, Ainsley and Camille Klaric and Miranda, Gene III, Nate and Saige Metro; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy Grande and Audrey, Selina and Evie Stark; two sisters, Norene Diegelmann and her husband, Karl, Louisiana; and Carole Nelson, Minnesota; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, a granddaughter, Sophia Rose Metro; a great-grandson, Brian Grande; a brother, Robert McKee; a brother-in-law, Walter Nelson; and his beloved grandmother, "Ma Don."
Jerry took great care of his family and will be sadly missed.
