Fredonia - Janet R. Cessna, Fredonia, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 18, 2025, in the Greystone Country Estates. She was 82.
She was born in Baltimore, Md., Dec. 3, 1942, a daughter of Myron and Janet (Diehl) Horton.
On August 30, 1960, she married George Cessna, who preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1997. She was a homemaker and had been employed by Greenville Hospital in the housekeeping department, from where she retired. She was an active member of Zion's United Church of Christ, Transfer, and a member of the New Hamburg Countryside Garden Club and the Reynolds Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7599 Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed traveling the United States with her companion of 27 years, Daniel Walters. Together, they had toured the country and Canada in their RV, having travelled to the West Coast three times. They enjoyed spending the winter months in their home in Florida, where she loved watching the sunsets.
In addition to her companion, Dan Walters, Fredonia, she is survived by her children, Celeste Prezioso (Michael), Williamsburg, Va.; and Edwin Cessna (Michele), Parma Heights, Ohio; a nephew, who was raised by Janet, Buddy Burns, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Angela Sumner (Mark), Leah Moulton (Greg), Michael T. Prezioso (Katherine), Nicolas Cessna, Joseph Cessna, Anthony Cessna, Gina Cessna, Vincent Cessna, and Angelo Cessna; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Sumner, Benedict Prezioso, Peter Prezioso, Thomas Prezioso and Madelyn Moulton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and three siblings, Sheila Burns, Marnie Fields, and Blaine Horton.
The family has suggested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Zion's United Church of Christ, 17 Church St., Transfer, PA 16154.
