James Morsillo ("Jim") Obituary

Hermitage, PA - James "Jim"Morsillo, 88, of Hermitage, Pa., passed away Saturday evening, July 4, 2026, at Mercy Hospice of the Valley in Poland, Ohio.

Jim was born on Dec. 16, 1937, in Farrell to Joseph and Mary (DePascal) Morsillo. He graduated in 1955 from Sharon High School.

Jim served in the Army Reserves for several years and was self-employed.

He later sold steel internationally for Sharon Steel and owned James Creek Galleries in Volant.

Jim was a multi-sport athlete but lived for golf. He was known for his wit and his sense of humor, and was a celebrity to his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy (Settle) Morsillo; his daughter, Cynthia (Morsillo) Rakestraw and her husband Tom; his son, Daniel Morsillo and his wife Lori; and five grandchildren, Benjamin Rakestraw, Kaitlyn Rakestraw, Elizabeth Morsillo, Morgan Morsillo and Joseph Morsillo.

He was preceded in death by his son, James; his parents, Joseph and Mary; and his beloved second mother, Elizabeth (Nichols) Morsillo.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Prince of Peace Center, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA 16121.

Jim was a first-generation Italian American. To honor him, please be kind to your immigrant neighbors.
