A funeral service will be held Friday for James C. "J.C." Lee of Farrell. He was called home to be with His Maker at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, after an extended illness. He was 93. J.C., as he was known to family and friends, was born April 9, 1922, in Skippers, Va., one of seven children born to Jennis and Mamie Dalton Lee. Mr. Lee earned a degree from Virginia State College. As a decorated World War II veteran, he achieved a rank of sergeant and received numerous medals of honor including a Presidential Citation, of which he was very proud. He served under the leadership of Gen. Mark Clark in the 5th Army. For many years, Mr. Lee owned and operated a radio and television shop in Farrell. He retired from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant. A life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Murray-Bell Post 7597, Farrell, Mr. Lee held the positions of post commander, Mercer county commander and District 28 commander, and served as Post 7597's quartermaster for 30 years. He also belonged to American Legion Post 160, Farrell. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, the former Dorothy A. Johnson, whom he married Feb. 2, 1943; a son, James W. Lee, Hermitage; two daughters, Jacqueline Gates, Warren, Ohio; and Patricia Costes, Sharon; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family members, comrades and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, a brother and his son, Anthony Marc Lee. LEE James C. "J.C.," 93, Farrell.
