Hermitage, PA - James C. "Jim" Flickinger, 91, of Hermitage, passed away Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026, in St. John XXIII Home.

Mr. Flickinger was born on Nov. 4, 1934, in Struthers, Ohio, a son of the late William and Grace (Caldwell) Flickinger.

He was a 1954 graduate of Sharon High School and honorably served in the Air Force during the Korean War as a survival instructor.

Jim spent more than 37 years at Sawhill Tubular, retiring in 1996 as a metalizer.

Following retirement, he worked as a ranger at Buhl Park and will be remembered by many as the "Santa Claus" at the former Shenango Valley Mall.

Jim was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 684, and was the past grand knight.

Additionally, he volunteered at the former Dwelling Place-House of Prayer, Sharon, and was an associate of the Sisters of Mercy, Erie.

He married his high school sweetheart, the former Barbara J. Antos, on May 25, 1957. She passed away on Feb. 7, 2014.

A sports fan, he cheered for the Cleveland Browns and Penn State Football.

Later in life, Jim attended a rodeo, introducing a new passion, obtaining the honorable nickname of "Cowboy Jim."

He is survived by three daughters, Joan Kerr, of Hermitage; Michelle Earnhardt and her husband, Lee, of Fowler, Ohio; and Lisa Genaro and her husband, Charles, of Brunswick, Ohio; two sons, Mark Flickinger and his wife, Debbie, of Rockledge, Fla.; and Jon Flickinger and his wife, Valerie, of Hermitage; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Redmond; a sister, Joan Doverspike; a granddaughter, Kimberly Earnhardt; and a great-granddaughter, Annelise Burnett.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
