New Wilmington, PA - Jack "Pete" Welch, 89, formerly of Wood Street, New Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at Shenango On The Green, New Wilmington.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1936, in Sharon to the late Mont and Agnes Campbell Welch.

He married Carole Deann Merritt on Oct. 11, 1958, and she preceded him in death Oct. 14, 2021.

Pete was a pharmacist, retiring in 1998 from St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

He graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1954 and the University of Pittsburgh in 1958.

He served his country in the Air Force Reserves.

Pete was a member of the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, Wilmington Lodge 804 and New Castle Consistory. He served on Borough Council for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy J. (Chris) Brooks of New Castle; a son, David (Denise) Welch of New Wilmington; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Christopher Welch, and Andrew and Alex Brooks.

Memorial contributions may be given to the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church or the Wilmington Lodge, 804, High Street, New Wilmington, PA.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday (1-10-26) at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.

Masonic service: 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 4:15 p.m. Pastor Rebecca Rosengarth will officiate.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
