Funeral service will be held Saturday for Jack G. Johnson of Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, formerly of Transfer. He passed away Sunday afternoon (4-19-15). He was 45. Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 5, 1970, in Greenville to Ronald E. Johnson and Shirley J. Humphrey Johnson. He was a 1989 graduate of Reynolds High School where he was a two-time PIAA state champion in the javelin. Jack also attended Thiel College, Greenville, and Slippery Rock University. While at Thiel, he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity and also competed in track, where he was a NCAA Division III national champion in the javelin. He was employed as a lineman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He previously attended First Baptist Church in Sharpsville. Jack enjoyed weightlifting, listening to country music and the outdoors. He was a diehard Pittsburgh sports fan. He is survived by a daughter, Chelsea M. Johnson, Pittsburgh; his mother, Shirley J. Riggs and her husband William, Mercer; two sisters, Gina D. Johnson, Transfer; and Carrie B. McCombs and her husband Matt, Andover, Ohio; and three brothers, Ronald E. Johnson, Oil City; and Lonny C. Riggs and Bobby W. Riggs, both Mercer. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Markie Riggs. JOHNSON Jack G., 45, Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, formerly of Transfer.
