Gerald R. Jewel Sr. of Sharon passed away Saturday morning, April 2, 2016, at UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh. He was 73.

Gerald was born on Oct. 18, 1942, in Masury, a son of the late Robert Jewel and Viola (King) Jewel.

He was a 1961 graduate of Brookfield High School.

After high school he married his loving wife, Jacqueline Jewel, on March 17, 1965.

He found employment at Sharon Steel Corp., Farrell, as a laborer for 28 years until he retired in 1993.

He coached Patagonia Little League for 15 years and served as vice president. He was also an avid Cleveland Sports Fan.

Gerald will be deeply missed by his wife, Jacqueline Jewel, whom he shared 51 years of marriage with; his son, Gerald "Buzzy" Jewel Jr. of Sharpsville; and his brother, Robert (Irene) Jewel of Sharpsville.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Bill, Eddie, and Ernie Jewel; and his five sisters, Sarah Black, Arlene Spohn, Alice Mae Withrow, Helen Evans, and Eleanor Spohn.
