George A. Reed Obituary

George A. Reed, 93, of Hadley, Sandy Creek Township, passed away early Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2023, at the Avalon Springs Place, Mercer.

George was born on Nov. 17, 1929, in Glenfield, a son of the late Donald and Esther (Lucas) Reed.

He was a graduate of Hopewell High School and enlisted in the Army. During this enlistment, he was recruited for a special project, which then led to a 30-year career in aerospace with Lockheed Martin.

He had served honorably and dutifully during the Korean War.

Mr. Reed loved reading, hunting, fishing, CB radio and horseback riding.

He was a member of the Perry Baptist Church, Hadley.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy McCoy (Reed), on May 28, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 13, 2013.

George is survived by a son, Daniel (Cindy) Reed, Hadley; a daughter, Constance (Mike) Walker, Hadley; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David; a brother Clyde; and his sisters, Betty and Virginia.

Burial: Next to his wife wife at Hadley Cemetery, at a later date.
