YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — George Lutza, 99, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home.

George was born May 23, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late George and Mary Pavuk Lutza. He was a 1946 graduate of Chaney High School, and honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II, stationed in the Pacific Asiatic Sea. After his military service, he attended Coyne Electrical School.

George worked as a machinist with Sawhill Tubular Products in Sharon for 25 years before retiring in 1988.

Mr. Lutza was a lifelong member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.

He cherished his friendships with the Sharpsville High School Class of 1947 breakfast group, which he joined through his work in Pennsylvania.

George enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing and listening to jazz and big band music. He also had a passion for traveling, having explored destinations across the United States and Europe. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.

George is survived by his wife of 72 years, Catherine A. Tranick Lutza, whom he married May 17, 1952; his four children, George Edward (Carol) Lutza, Patricia Lutza McFarland (Timothy), Mary Cay Lutza, and David (Michelle) Lutza; two grandchildren, Dillon (Samantha) Lutza and Immanuel (Paige) Feeté; and a great-grandson, Emmett.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Trisha Fawn Feeté; and three sisters, Anna Schreader, Marie Toth, and Margaret Phillips.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and continue at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
