Mrs. Erma Russie, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.

She was born June 1, 1924, in Newton Falls Ohio, to Robert and Harriet McBurney.

She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and worked briefly as a secretary at the U.S. Air Force Reserve Base, Vienna, Ohio.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, reading and wintering in Arizona with her husband, Lester.

She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon.

Surviving Erma are her stepdaughter, Barbara Axelson. Denver; and her nephew, Robert McBurney, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Russie, whom she married Nov. 25, 1960. He passed on July 11, 1988. She also was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Mora; two sisters, Verna McBurney and Evelyn MacBurney; and one brother, Paul McBurney.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to either the Coalition for Christian Outreach, 5912 Penn Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15206; or Covenant Presbyterian Church, 262 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
