Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania - Elton R. Barnett, 75, of Hamburg Road, Hempfield Township, Greenville, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 24, 2025, in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, due to injuries from a motorcycle accident.

He was born in Greenville on Feb. 23, 1950, to Willis R. and Beatrice N. (Fritz) Barnett.

Elton was a 1968 graduate of Greenville High School. He attended Valley Forge Military Academy and graduated from Grove City College in 1972 with a degree in Business.

Elton served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves 298th Transportation Company, Franklin, from 1968 to 1982.

After growing up as part of the family business, he retired in 2015 as the owner/operator of Barnett's Garage Jeep Sales and Service, where he proudly knew all of his customers by name and car.

Elton was of the Lutheran faith. He loved motorcycles, especially Indians, and enjoyed snow skiing for many years. Elton especially loved spending time with his beloved dog, Lady.

On Sept. 24, 1977, he married the former Meryl R. Bailing, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Elton is survived by a son, Brent R. Barnett, West Rutland, Vt.; two sisters, Darlene Ferguson, Greenville, and Anita (Paul) Gallo, Darien, Conn.; a brother, James Barnett, Greenville; and a sister-in-law, Linda Barnett, Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Rev. Emory Barnett; and a brother-in-law, John Ferguson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a veterans organization of the donor's choice.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (10-29-25) at LOUTZENHISER-JORDAN FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday (10-30-25) at the funeral home with Rev. Keith Troyer, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Greenville, officiating. Military honors will be rendered by Greenville American Legion Post 140 Honor Guard at the conclusion of the service.

Interment: Delaware Township Cemetery.
