Elmer E. Sindlinger Obituary

Elmer E. Sindlinger, Perry Highway, Sandy Creek Township, Hadley, passed away Thursday evening, June 16, 2016, at the Park Avenue Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Meadville. He was 83.

Elmer was born May 14, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Elmer J. and Charlotte (Rockhill) Sindlinger.

On Aug. 7, 1954, he married the former Joyce B. Silloway, who preceded him in death on July 19, 2006.

Elmer had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car Co. for more than 47 years and also enjoyed dairy farming on the family farm.

He was a member of the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church and had served with the Army.

He is survived by: two sons, Mark Sindlinger and his companion Christy McCune, and Michael Sindlinger and his wife Lori, all of Hadley; a daughter, Tammy Hornick and her husband Harry, Port Republic, Md.; and a daughter-in-law, Peg Sindlinger of Clarks Mills.

Also surviving are: 11 grandchildren, Jay Sindlinger and his wife Katie of Clarks Mills; Wesley Sindlinger and his wife Sheila of Oil City; Morgan Lisk and her husband Michael of Cleveland; Joshua Sindlinger and his wife Crystal of Edinboro; Kayla Post and her husband Benjamin of Hadley and Clay Sindlinger and his wife Bethany, all of Hadley; Kristie Sindlinger and her fiancée Kurt Hamilton of Harmonsburg; Stacey Sindlinger of Pittsburgh; Jacob Hornick of Harrisburg; Lucas Hornick, serving with the Army at Fort Drum; and Rachel Hornick, serving with the Army at West Point in New York; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by: a son, Gordon R. Sindlinger; and two sisters, Dorothy Cook and Marjorie Henry.
