Ellis D. “Bub” Stewart of St. Paul’s, 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of Sharpsville and Hermitage, died peacefully Saturday (4-16-11) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an extended illness. He was 80. Mr. Stewart was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Transfer, a son of Ellis J. and Alice Deevers Stewart. He was a graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, and went on to serve in the Army during the early 1950s in Alaska. Mr. Stewart had worked as a computer programmer for more than 25 years at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., before retiring. Bub was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with his family and was very dedicated to his faith in the Lord. He was a member of Sharon Alliance Church and had served as research division director for Bill Rudge Ministries in Hermitage for 20 years. When he and his wife moved to California to be closer to their family, he worked for Grace To You Ministries in Santa Clarita. A few years ago, upon returning to the valley, he became a volunteer with World Outreach Literature ministry of Bill Rudge Ministries. He is survived by his wife, the former Irene J. Somers, whom he married Oct. 6, 1951. She survives at their residence in St. Paul’s. Also surviving are his three daughters, Sheryle Bleier and her husband Richard, Santa Clarita; Rebecca Mastriano and her husband Col. Douglas Mastriano, New Brunswick, Canada; and Tracy Koven, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; along with two granddaughters, Leslie Hamm and Allyson Bleier; his grandson, Josiah Mastriano; and two great-grandchildren. Bub was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James R. Stewart. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Bill Rudge Ministries of Living Truth Inc., 280 N.
