Earlene Thompson
After 93 years, Earlene Ann Thompson entered the presence of God Almighty on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, surrounded by the love of family and friends at home.
Earlene was born to Margaret Booker Thomas and Emery Nolan Thomas on Nov. 11, 1926, in Mansfield, Ohio. She will forever be remembered as smart, wise, innovative, funny, and always made you laugh!
After moving to Farrell, her mother married James McNeal ("Pop") in 1938, from Little Rock, Ark., a beloved husband and father.
She became the first black quality inspector at Stromberg Carlson/General Dynamics in Rochester, N.Y., in the 1960s and was awarded "Person of the Year" at Henry W. Richards Southwest Gardens community center in Farrell in 1988.
Earlene was a member of the Greater Morris Chapel A.M.E. Church and a strong, spiritual woman who loved the Lord. She was the family matriarch and moved to Menifee, Calif., in 1998 to be closer to her children.
Earlene was dearly loved and leaves a lasting memory to cherish for her children, Marshall and Diane; Nathaniel, Marlon, Valencia, and Danielle and their children; and the Wayne family. She cherished many other family and friends.
We thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown during her life and during this time of bereavement.
