Millbrook, Pa. - Earl J. King, of Millbrook, Jackson Center, passed away peacefully in his home during the early hours of Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2026. He was 98.

Earl was born at home Sept. 12, 1927, to Archie and Elizabeth (Schmeltzer) King, in the exact same room where he later passed.

Earl embodied a gentlemen of the world's greatest generation through his commitment to the military, workforce, and faith.

Following his graduation from Grove City High School in 1945, Earl served in the United States Navy during World War II. He continued his military commitment with an additional four years in the Naval Reserves.

After his service, Earl attended Grove City College, graduating in 1953. On June 16, 1950, he married Alice (Lean) King, with whom he shared a devoted 75 years of marriage.

Earl spent more than 30 years with U.S. Steel Corp. and served as a superintendent in engineering and management, retiring in 1985.

He was a longtime and devoted member of Millbrook Presbyterian Church, where he would lead worships whenever their pastor was absent. He took pride in his service as a lifelong member of the Pennsylvania State Grange, Masonic Lodge and the Syria Shrine Temple of Pittsburgh.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice King, at home; a daughter, Diane K. (Douglas) Ziegler, Erie, Pa.; and a grandson, Alexander J. Ziegler, Tampa, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George E. King.
