Grove City, PA - Dorothy A. Echon, 83, of Grove City, formerly of Lower Burrell, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 15, 2025, in Orchard Manor, following a lengthy illness with dementia.

Dorothy was born on Oct 4, 1942, in Sandy Lake, to Joseph and Antoinette (Herron) Lyons. She married John Henry Echon in November 1965; he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2005.

She was a 1961 graduate of Lakeview High School and a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Freeport.

Dorothy was a homemaker and for many years she was a housekeeper and cook for St. Margaret Mary's Parish, Lower Burrell, and St. Mary's Parish, Freeport.

She is survived by a son, Sean R. Echon, Lower Burrell; two grandchildren, Sara Lynn Echon (Patrick) Tobin and Connie Blair; three great-grandchildren, Blake, Madelyn and Charlotte Tobin; a dear friend who was like a sister, Mary Cowen; nieces and nephews, Helen Winger, Amy Segaty, Jill Lyons, Greg Lyons, Candy Strimbu, Cindy Dickson, Joe Lyons, Bill Lyons, Fred Reash and Charles Reash; and other extended family members.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Michael J. Echon; two sisters, Joan Segaty and Mary Penman; two brothers, Joseph J. and Dennis Lyons; and two nephews, Scott Lyons and Mark Reash.
